PowerStack has partnered with a publicly traded cold storage 3PL, a global leader in temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics, to deliver scalable onsite energy solutions across its nationwide portfolio. Since the start of the relationship, PowerStack and its partners have installed more than 15 MW of primarily rooftop solar at cold storage facilities coast to coast—bringing renewable generation directly to one of the most energy-intensive industries in the world.
Building on this foundation, the program has evolved to include battery energy storage systems (BESS) and linear generators at select facilities. These additions provide resilience against outages, reduce costly demand charges, and give the client a greater control over energy costs—without compromising the strict uptime requirements of the cold chain.
This ongoing partnership underscores PowerStack’s ability to deliver consistent, high-value energy infrastructure for institutional industrial portfolio owners. By managing projects across multiple sites nationwide, we provide a standardized yet flexible framework that balances cost efficiency, sustainability goals, and operational resilience.
Over 15 MW of installed distributed generation assets, with additional projects in development.
Primarily rooftop solar arrays, expanded at select sites with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and linear generators for resilience and demand management.
The client's 15 MW solar installations generate approximately 26 million kWh annually, enough to power ~3,000 U.S. homes and avoid about 18,200 metric tons of CO₂ emissions per year—comparable to the annual CO₂ absorbed by 2,200 acres of U.S. forests.
Projects deployed in phases across multiple years, aligned with facility schedules to minimize disruption to cold chain operations.
Successful interconnection to utilities across multiple regions nationwide, each with unique technical standards, permitting hurdles, and capacity limitations.
Leveraged Federal ITC and a variety of state and utility incentive programs, demonstrating PowerStack’s ability to navigate diverse regulatory environments and optimize project economics.
In cold storage, energy is more than a utility—it’s mission-critical. Every outage risks product loss, operational delays, and millions in potential exposure. By investing in distributed energy assets with PowerStack, our client strengthens their business continuity, protects margins, and creates a hedge against utility volatility. These systems not only stabilize operating costs but also support the company’s broader sustainability and decarbonization commitments.
At the portfolio level, distributed generation adds real estate value, enhances tenant confidence, and positions our client as an industry leader in sustainable, resilient operations. For PowerStack, this partnership demonstrates how our technology-agnostic, multi-site approach delivers strategic advantages that go well beyond energy savings—helping clients turn infrastructure into a long-term competitive edge.
Through its work with this portfolio, PowerStack proves its capability to deliver more than individual projects—we provide a portfolio-wide energy strategy that reduces costs, strengthens resilience, and supports long-term sustainability targets for some of the world’s most demanding industries.
